Hashi-dera, protector of the Uji Bridge, is said to have been built in 604 at the request of Prince Shotoku. Situated on the east bank of the Uji River in Kyoto Prefecture, the temple came to be known as Hojo-in and its principal image is a sculpture of Jizo.
